CARE

At Violet Clark Studio we strive to use the best fabrics available which is why we are committed to only using natural fibres like silk, linen and silk cotton.

Using natural fabrics is not only better for the environment in the long term but also better for the health and comfort of the wearer.

Here are some care instructions to help prolong the life of your garments.

SILK

Silk fabric is a luxurious and natural textile made from the protein fiber produced by the silkworm. It is a strong but delicate fabric that will last a long time if cared for properly.

Here are silk care instructions to help maintain the quality and longevity of your silk garments.

Hand Wash Gently-

  1.  Always use cold or lukewarm water and
  2. Use a pH neutral, silk safe detergent.
  3. Gently agitate the fabric with your hands - no rubbing, wringing or scrubbing.
  4. Limit wash time to 3 - 5 minutes

Drying

Gently roll your silk garment in a clean towel to remove excess water.

Lay flat or hang to dry in the shade - avoid direct sunlight or heat, which can yellow or weaken the silk fibers.

Do not tumble dry.

Ironing

If needed, iron while slightly damp or use a steamer.

Turn your silk garment inside out when ironing/steaming.

Use the lowest heat setting available.

Storage tips

Store in a cool, dry and dark place.

Use breathable fabric bags not plastic.
